Pellegrini Unoaked Chardonnay Russian River Valley ’18
Our Unoaked Chardonnay grapes were hand-picked in the very early morning. The Russian River Valley’s long and cool foggy mornings allow for the vineyard crew to take their time in handling this delicate fruit with great care on its way to tank. The lot was hand-sorted and whole cluster pressed. With no malolactic conversion, and fermented entirely in stainless steel, the intention of this wine is the preservation of the personality of pure Chardonnay.
Despite its challenges, 2018 has proven to be quite the excellent vintage for Chardonnay. Our 2018 Unoaked Chardonnay embodies the extensive layers of flavors in a cooler than average vintage. On the nose—cantaloupe, tangerine, Nashi pear, and granite provide an appetizing introduction to flavors on the palate of grilled Meyer lemon, kiwi, and just nearly-ripe pineapple. The wine’s voluptuous texture, clean acid, and spicy lemongrass finish round out this wine beautifully.
About the Winery
The Pellegrini family name has been associated with every tier of the wine business since the early part of the 20th Century, as producers, grape sellers, importers, and wholesale distributors. Family owned for four generations, Pellegrini wines are today made at our state-of-the-art Tuscan styled winery at Olivet Lane Estate, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley.
Olivet Lane is known as one of the very first vineyards that was planted to Pinot Noir in Sonoma County. The Pellegrinis employ old-world artisan winemaking methods to craft the very best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Sonoma County. Quality & unadorned terroir is of our utmost priority in every bottle. In 2017, Robert Pellegrini passed the reigns to his Daughter, Alexia, whom oversees and guides business operations, continuing to build upon the legacy of the Pellegrini name within the wine business.
