Domaine des Pasquiers Vin de Pays de Vaucluse Red ’19
The grape varietals for this elegant weekday sipper include:60% Merlot,20% Marselan and 20% Syrah and derives from vineyards with soils that are largely made up of sand and small pebbles along the plain of Sablet. As with all the wines from Domaines des Pasquiers, this little vin des pays is organically farmed and produced, using only organic fertilizers when necessary. The vinification takes place each year, around September and begins with the removal of the stems, and a soak in large concrete tanks for 10 to 15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place for up to 3 months and then the wines are lightly filtered before bottling. This wine can age for up to 3 years if desired, but is immediately enjoyable with grilled meats and poultry. The color of this wine is bright-bright red. Which pairs well with the aroma of fresh red berries and lightly textured forest floor.
About the Winery
A land of the Mediterranean, Provence is naturally a land of vines. Four generations of winegrowers have succeeded on this estate since 1935. The Lambert brothers took over the Domaine des Pasquiers in 1998 created by their grandfather.
This traditionally-styled winery is now run by the two brothers, Jean-Claude and Philippe Lambert and his son, Matthieu.
All work complimentary and they share the same values: respect of the soil, respect of the vines, respect of the wine. They work tirelessly to craft elegant wines that are a true expression of this wonderful terroir.
Everything starts in the vineyard, and that’s why they have been farming organically since taking over the estate.
To preserve the quality of the fruits, the harvest is entirely destemmed, the vattings are short. This keeps the aromatic richness and freshness of the wines. The various types of grapes are vinified separately before being blended together into the final cuvees.
The grape varieties in the vineyard are the most important of the Rhone Valley: Grenache for the fruit and broadness, Syrah for the structure and delicacy, and Mourvedre for depth and concentration.
The estate, with its 87 hectares, extends on several appellations: IGP Vaucluse, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône Sablet and Gigondas.
Situated at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the vineyards spread across Plan de Dieu, terraces of red clay recovered by pebble stones which reverberate the sun’s heat at night and keep cool during day.
It is the gentle slopes of Sablet where then the grapes grow on sandy soils along with gravel bringing finesse and mineral qualities to the wine.
Then comes the land of the Gigondas region, where the soil, combination of the secondary to the quaternary periods, produce structured and unique terroirs for very complex wines.
All of the wines from Domaines des Pasquiers have been certified organic since 2010.
